The Challenge That Secretly Carves Your Abs
Certain exercises—like planks and situps—are known for sizzling your six-pack. But the core-carving benefit of other moves isn’t so obvious until you’ve completed a few reps and your muscles are burning.
“Pairing two of these unexpected ab-blasters back-to-back is one of the best ways to work your body from head to toe and zero in on your core at the same time,” says Sam Stauffer, an expert coach for musclemorphosis.com, a cutting-edge functional training system.
In this week’s challenge, you’ll perform a pushup and a ladder drill without resting in between exercises. “During the pushup you have to use your abs to help hold your body in a straight line,” he says. “But in the ladder drill, you do just the opposite, and use your abs to help turn your hips to land your feet in the boxes.”
Ready to try it for yourself? Perform 10 pushups. Without resting, get up and complete the cross-behind ladder drill as shown in the video above. That’s 1 round. Repeat 3 times total.
Stauffer flew through this dynamite duo in just 1 minute and 9 seconds. Try it and let us know how you do in the comments below.
