The Super-Efficient Arm, Back, and Shoulder Exercise
Multitasking is usually counterproductive, research shows. Not that you really need a researcher to tell you that. (Have you seen that video of the woman texting and walking into a fountain? We prove our point.)
The pushup and row, however, is a rare situation where multitasking is a fantastic idea.
“A pushup is an excellent core and upper body exercise. Add in a rowing movement, and you work your upper back and add an additional core stability challenge,” says Men’s Health adviser Rachel Cosgrove, creator of the Spartacus workout series—including the all-new musclemorphosis.com, available exclusively through Men's Health Personal Trainer. “Most people don’t include enough rowing or pulling in their workouts, so this is a great way to balance out the push and pull in one exercise.”
Watch the video below to see how to perform the pushup and row with perfect form.
Tip: Keep your hips in the same position for the whole movement. Don’t let your butt sag or allow your body to rotate.
