Hotel Gym, Bodyweight, and Fat Burning Workouts
Okay, so what workout do you do when you are on the road?
Well, my advice is pretty simple. Use the hotel gym, or suck it up and go to a local gym and pay the outrageous "cover charge" to do your workout. Hey, put it on your expense account if you can.
Way back in March when I was in LA, I paid 20 bucks to train at Gold's Gym. It was worth it. Plain and simple. Heck, going to a Gold's Gym is far more entertaining to me than going to a movie. So I feel I get a bargain everytime. That's just my mindset. No cost is too high for my fitness.
You either pay a little now, or pay a lot later. Like getting your foot amputated when you're a diabetic. No thanks. I'll pay the 20 bucks now.
Later in April I stayed at the Opryland hotel in Nashville that had a better than average hotel gym. So my workout in the hotel gym was different than my normally scheduled workout due to lack of certain pieces of equipment, but here's what I did...
1A) Split Squats
1B) Cable Crunches
2A) Cable Chops
2B) Cable PNF (stole this from a Bill Hartman article in Mens' Health, May 2008 issue)
3A) DB Triceps Extensions
3B) DB Shrugs
It was pretty good. I was sore the next day from the split squats.
Okay, so what if you can't get to a gym? Well, there are dozens of bodyweight exercises you can do in your hotel room. Here's a bodyweight circuit training video for you.
I'm off to Vegas this weekend, and I'll be getting in some traditional and non-traditional workouts...plus, going on a few adventures.
No excuses to stop training while traveling (not even the $35 charge it costs to use the gym at the MGM Grand - even though I'm staying at that hotel...just another charge you have to pay in Vegas),
