The exercise activates your rotator cuff and scapular muscles which help stabilize your shoulders, says Men’s Health Fitness Director BJ Gaddour, who demonstrates the movement in the video above.
You’ll start by pushing and pulling the band away from your chest, like you would in a musclemorphosis.com and row. Then you’ll take the miniband overhead for presses.
“I find it helps with cleaning up any musclemorphosis.com, particularly on the overhead pattern,” says Gaddour. “The key is to maintain the outward pressure against the band throughout the drill.”
You can do this as a warmup set before your next upper-body workout. You can also plug it into a circuit workout as your upper-body or pulling move.
